Residential and Commercial Lawn Mowing Contracts

Lawn mowing is probably the most important aspect of caring for your lawn. When we encounter a troubled lawn, it usually has something to do with the way it is being mowed. Most homeowners do not mow tall enough. Set your mower at the highest setting, give it a chance, and you’ll be happy you joined the club.

Peters Lawn Service provides seasonal contracts for commercial and residential lawn mowing. Contracts are based on a seasonal service (7 months) or per time basis in which the lawn is mowed every 7 to 10 days as the weather dictates. Our crews operate and maintain a professional fleet of the best equipment available. We guarantee that your lawn will be mowed with sharp blades with the correct mower for your area.

Peters Lawn Service also provides rough mowing for maintaining outlots.

Helpful Lawn Mowing Tips

For the first 2 mows in the spring and the last 2 mows in the fall, mow your lawn short at a height of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches. For the rest of the year, mow tall at a height of 3 1/2 to 4 inches (the highest setting on your push mower). Sharpen your blade 2-3 times per season (we sharpen ours every 5 days).

After each mowing, check and clean underside of mowing deck. Do not cut off more than 1/3 of the blade of grass. In other words, do not mow overgrown grass too short – you will end up cutting into the stem of the grass, causing stress, and providing a better opportunity for weeds. Normally, there is no reason to bag the grass and the clippings will benefit your soil, but don’t leave clumps!

Switch your mowing patterns and overlap. If there is excessive cut grass, windrows, clumps, or uneven cut, turn around and re-cut. Get it right this time!

Mow your lawn during the cool part of the day. Mowing wet or damp grass allows for a cleaner cut than dry grass which is more likely to tear. Running your irrigation system or excessive rainfall following a fresh cut can lead to increased risk of spreading fungal disease.

Mulching leaves into your lawn in the fall will add phosphorus to your soil. Do a good fall cleanup and your lawn will be ready to grow in the spring!
